Membership Time Again!
Sunday, December 28, 2008 (15:28:20)
CWG It's time once again to remind folks about the Catholic Writers Guild. The CWG is here to support authors in developing their faith and craft. It is a more formal, organized group of writers, editors, illustrators and publishers dedicated to developing writing and marketing projects to accomplish the same.

We've had a lot of terrific projects get started in 2008 and even more that have been in the works and should launch in 2009. If you're wondering what the Guild can do for you, please read on.

Right now, the only thing holding us back is the need for members who are willing to participate in the projects. If you're looking for a way to improve your writing and do some effective marketing, please join us and get involved.

Sunday, December 30, 2007 (18:07:07)
CWG The Catholic Writers' Guild Marketplace is a place where writers and readers can find books, services and merchandise of interest to Catholic writers and readers.

Members of CWG receive one free ad with their membership dues and additional ads cost the regular price. Presenters at the Catholic Writers (Live or Online) Conference receive two free ads with the same requirements. Ads run on the site for a full year (member ads must be renewed with their dues payments). They cost $10 for the first ad, $5 each subsequent one, for a total of $25 for five ads. (Those wishing more ads should contact the Guild President.)

NaNoWriMo - 30K for Christ Challenge
Monday, September 17, 2007 (22:24:10)
CWG Join the challenge!

For the month of November CWG is sponsoring the NaNoWriMo 30K for Christ Challenge. In this challenge, particpants vow to produce 30,000 words of a novel, short story collection, non-fiction piece, synopsis, marketing, whatever we're writing - for Christ. No worrying about editing, no fussing about eloquence, just a down-and-dirty get-the-words-out fest. Here’s one time when writers anywhere share a common goal and work together to encourage each other.

Post your vow in this forum. And get the support, prayers and encouragement you need to finish.

At the end of November, you must submit your work to Ann Lewis and Karina Fabian. If you didn't make 30K, that's okay, you get support for even trying. If you do make 30K, you'll get a cool little icon you can place on your Web site, sig line, whatever saying you completed 30K for Christ, like this one:

So, state your project and November 1st, start your writing!

Toggle Content 30K for Christ Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

God in Heaven, You granted us, in Your Image, the ability to imagine and create. This month, I endeavor to indulge that creativity. Look with favor upon my efforts.

Dear Holy Spirit, this day, this month, I commend my writing efforts to your care. I ask for your guidance and your prayers as I seek to complete the project(s) in my mind and my heart.

O my Jesus, son of God, Light of the world, help me to spread your Light in all that I do. May my words be pleasing to You. Be close to me in this month as I strive to write 30,000 words for you.

Dear St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus. You knew hard work all your life. Inspire me to keep working toward my goal even when the words won't come with ease. You faced uncertainty. Teach me, then to place my trust in God as I forge into the uncertainty of my writing adventure.

Dear Mary, our Spiritual Mother, you were uncertain when the Archangel approached you, yet you gave yourself to God's Will. Give me grace to recognize and embrace my calling.

I place myself and my muse in your care, full of trust and gratitude. Amen.
May the Holy Spirit fill me and guide my imagination, I ask through Christ our Lord. Amen

Holy Family,

Guide our minds, our hearts, our hands,
as we write, speak, illustrate –
help our words to live in union with the Word.

Teach us discipline and skill
to use the talents God gives us.

Give us also insight and courage
to convey God's love through our craft,

and humility to be open
to His divine will, shaping our lives,
in loving loyalty to His Church.

In Christ's name,

Amen.
